Sensex climbs over 400 points

Mumbai (Thestates.news) |The equity market was returning to normalcy as it was cleared that the NDA-led Modi government will come to power for the third time as BSE Sensex on Thursday rallied 423 pts at 74806 in the opening trade as almost all the stocks were in green. The National Stock Exchange (NSE) too rose 140.15 points to 22760.50.

The sensex registered intraday highs and lows at 75078.70 and 74526.06 pts, respectively. The NSE registered days as high and low at 22799.50 and 22642.60 pts, respectively. The midcap rose by 2.08 pc, and mall cap by 2.65 pc. In 30 scrips, 19 advanced while 11 declined. The gainers were NTPC by 4.37 pc to Rs 355.85, SBI by 3.43 pc to Rs 816.70, Powergrid by 2.33 pc to Rs 305.70, and HCL Technology by 2.27 pc to Rs 1374. The losers were Hind Unilever by 2.14 pc to Rs 2547.10, Nestle India Ltd by 1.54 pc to Rs 2470.45, Sun Pharma by 1.14 pc to Rs 1430.55, and Asian Paints by 0.82 pc to Rs 2936. (UNI)
