 Sensex up over 400 points

Mumbai  (Thestates.news)| The BSE Sensex on Tuesday bounced back 408.44 points to 71’480.93 in the opening session on the strength of energy, FMCG, and health care stocks. The National Stock Exchange (NSE) rose 108.25 points to 21,724.30. Slumping over 500 points on Monday, the stock market was seen in a recovery mode in early trade.

The Sensex registered intraday highs and lows at 71,500.50 and 70,924.30 points, respectively.The Nifty registered intraday highs and lows at 21,724.75 and 21,543.35 points, respectively. The midcap gained 0.17 pc, and the smallcap gained 0.65 pc.

In 30 scrips, 22 advanced and 22 declined. The gainers were ICICI Bank by 2.35 percent to Rs 1019. Axis Bank by 1.73 percent to Rs 1065. Bajaj Finance increased by 1.49 percent to Rs 1579.85. NTPC by 1.34 percent to Rs. 320.35 and Korak Bank by 1.13 percent to Rs. 1729.35.

The losers were Power by 1.07 pc to Rs 267.20. Wipro by 0.78 pc to Rs 497.50, JSW Steel by 0.56 pc to Rs 805.85, and Infosys by 0.39 pc to Rs 1673.20. (uni)
