Shinde-Uddhav dispute hearing adjourned till Nov 29

New Delhi, (thestates.news)| The Constitution Bench of the Supreme Court has adjourned the hearing on the Shinde-Uddhav dispute in Maharashtra till November 29. The court has asked the lawyers of both sides to prepare a compilation of issues in four weeks. The court said that each party should decide who will argue on which issue, so that the hearing can be settled soon.

A five-member Constitution Bench of the Supreme Court, on September 27, while dismissing the petition of the Uddhav faction, refused to stay the Election Commission’s action on the party’s election symbol. Apart from Justice DY Chandrachud, the Constitution Bench comprises jJustices MR Shah, Krishna Murari, Hima Kohli and PS Narasimha.

The Supreme Court handed over the Shiv Sena case to a five-judge Constitution Bench. A three-member bench headed by the then Chief Justice NV Ramana had said that the Constitution Bench will decide whether the Speaker can hear the disqualification pending motion against him. The Constitution Bench should also consider the internal democracy of the parties and the role of the Election Commission in it.(HS)
