He emphasised that these new crop varieties will significantly boost agricultural productivity in Chhattisgarh, particularly in rice production, and will empower the state’s farmers to achieve greater prosperity through advanced farming techniques.
Shri Sai expressed his deep gratitude to Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, Union Minister of Agriculture Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan, and the agricultural scientists involved in this groundbreaking agricultural advancement. He shared his appreciation on the Twitter platform X, congratulating all farmers on this significant development.
Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi unveiled 109 varieties of high-yield, climate-resilient, and biofortified crops at the Indian Agricultural Research Institute (ICAR) in New Delhi on August 11. This includes 34 field crops and 27 horticultural crops. Scientists have developed rice varieties that require 20 percent less water, including nine improved rice varieties and two wheat varieties. Additionally, farmers will now have access to improved varieties of pulses, including two each of pigeon peas and chickpeas, and three varieties of lentils.
