Sonia Gandhi discharged from hospital, to appear before ED on June 23

New Delhi( thestates.news), : Sonia Gandhi, the Congress president, was released from Delhi’s Sir Ganga Ram Hospital on Monday after an eight-day stay for treatment of Covid-related issues. Congress President Sonia Gandhi has been discharged from Sir Ganga Ram Hospital and has been advised to rest, Jairam Ramesh, the Congress’s general secretary in charge of communications, tweeted.During her hospital stay, Gandhi was diagnosed with a lower respiratory tract infection. Gandhi was admitted to the hospital after profuse bleeding from the nose as a result of a recent Covid infection, according to Jairam Ramesh.

According to him, she was treated right away and had a follow-up procedure on June 15.This comes as the Enforcement Directorate has issued a new summons to Gandhi, who is 75 years old, to appear before it on June 23 for questioning in connection with a money laundering case involving the National Herald newspaper.On June 8, the Congress president was summoned to testify before a federal investigation agency. She, on the other hand, requested a new date from the Enforcement Directorate after becoming infected with Covid-19 on June 2.

For the fourth day in a row, Enforcement Directorate officials interrogated her son and party MP Rahul Gandhi in connection with the same case. The Congress president’s release from the hospital comes at a time when the country is protesting the Central government’s Agnipath recruitment scheme.(HS)
