Sports Authority of India approved 07 Khelo India Centers in Chhattisgarh

Raipur  (The States. news) The efforts made by Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel to promote sports in Chhattisgarh has been a huge success.  The Sports Authority of India has approved the establishment of seven Khelo India Centers in Chhattisgarh under the Khelo India scheme on the proposal of the Sports and Youth Welfare Department of Chhattisgarh Government. Two centers each for Archery and Hockey, one each for Volleyball, Mallakhamb and Football have been approved by the Sports Authority of India. In these centers, players of respective sports from Chhattisgarh will be selected and trained by national and international level coaches. The Sports Authority of India will also provide financial assistance for setting up these centres.

Expressing happiness over the approval of seven Khelo India Centers in Chhattisgarh, the Chief Minister said that the players of Chhattisgarh would get a good opportunity to enhance their sports talent. In the coming time, these players will bring laurels to the state and the country at the national and international level. He said that this has proved to be another meaningful step in realizing the vision of ‘Khelbo Jeetbo Garhbo Nava Chhattisgarh’.

Approval has been given to start Archery Center in Shivtarai Bilaspur, Archery Center in Bijapur, Hockey Center in Rajnandgaon, Hockey Center in Jashpur, Volleyball Center in Gariyaband, Mallakhamb Center in Narayanpur and Football Center in Surguja. These Khelo India Centers will be continuously monitored by the Directorate of Sports.

Senior players of each sport at local level will be attached to the centre and they will also be given honorarium for working as coaches. Equal representation of boys and girls players will also be ensured in all Khelo India Centers. These centers will be registered in the portal of Sports Authority of India.

This is the first time that a huge opportunity has been created for the players of Chhattisgarh since the formation of the state. Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel visited Bijapur Academy and promised to start an archery center there. Similarly, seeing the interest and talent of local children in archery games in Shivtarai Bilaspur, the Chief Minister ensured to upgrade it into a state level sports academy. All these promises made by the Chief Minister have been fulfilled today.

Rajnandgaon and Jashpur have been famous as hockey nurseries for a long time, now the new generation will get a good opportunity to enhance their sports talents here. Bastar region remained neglected in sports till now. However, on the instructions of Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, special efforts are being made for the development of sports in Bastar, the approval of Khelo India Center is an example. A new opportunity has been created for the football players in Surguja. New opportunities are constantly being created for the players by the Sports and Youth Welfare Department. In the coming time, the players of the state will bring laurels to the state at the national and international level.
