Raipur (thestates.news) Chhattisgarh Herbals’, a homegrown brand that helps people living in and around forest and women self-help groups to boost their income, is gaining fast popularity across the country. Outlets of the brand are soon going to be set up in Maharashtra and Goa as well for sale of its products.
Meanwhile, more than 130 types of products are being produced under this brand by the Van Dhan Vikas Kendras of the State Minor Forest Produce Association. Similarly as many as 90 products are being produced by the women SHGs working under cluster sectors. These handcrafted products are being sold through 32 Sanjeevani stores, Dhanwantri stores and CSC shops in Chhattisgarh as well as on e-commerce giants like Amazon and Flipkart. Through this, the Chhattisgarh State Minor Forest Produce Association has achieved a new milestone in the field of marketing.
Naturo Medex Pvt. Ltd, a Pune-based pharmaceutical company has given its nod to market the products of ‘Chhattisgarh Herbals’ in the state of Maharashtra and Goa in the first phase. The success of Chhattisgarh Herbals is attracting private investors and distributors as well. Keeping this in view, Chhattisgarh State Minor Forest Produce Association invited expression of interest from state level distributors from different states of the country for marketing these products.
With the selection of State Level Distributors in Maharashtra and Goa, the locals can now purchase products of ‘Chhattisgarh Herbals’ from their nearest retail outlets. Besides, the identification and selection process for distributors in other parts of the country is still under progress.
Meanwhile, with the growing popularity and demand of these products, the Van Dhan Vikas Kendras are being developed and equipped with modern technology to boost production and quality of products. This is being done as per the directions and guidance of Chief Minister Shri Baghel Baghel and Forest Minister Shri Mohammad Akbar.
Chhattisgarh State Minor Forest Produce Association Managing Director Shri Sanjay Shukla said that a new plant is being set up for honey processing at Kawardha Van Dhan Vikas Kendra. Similarly, a new advanced cashew processing unit is being established at Asna in Jagdalpur. Units are being set up at Dhamtari’s Dugli to manufacture Aloe Vera products and at Baronda, Raipur to manufacture premium Jamun juice. Similarly, other Van Dhan Vikas Kendra units are being improved and modernized with the advice of expert consultants of IIT Kanpur to maintain the premium quality of the products. Besides, in a bid to boost sale of products during festive season, curated gifted hampers have been brought into the market for the last two years.
Herbal products made from forest produce
The minor forest produce collected from the forests of Chhattisgarh and products made using it by the tribal women are sold under the brand ‘Chhattisgarh Herbals’. This aims at social and economic upliftment of tribals and other forest dwellers. Pure herbal products including Bhringraj Oil, Neem Oil, Herbal Soap, Chyawanprash, Pure Honey, Sanitizer, Herbal ‘Havan’ Ingredients, Seed Oil, Amla Juice, Bael Sherbet, Jamun Juice, Mahua RTS, Mahua Squash, Herbal Coffee, Amla Lachha , pickles, digester, candies, and bael murabba are being sold. While various other products like Mahua Laddoos, Jam, Cookies, Pickles, Chikki, Tamarind Sauce and Jamun Chips, Masala Jaggery Powder and Ayurveda Churna are also available for sale.
