Students from Sumy to return today, MEA expresses gratitude towards key players

New Delhi, (The States. news)| Minister of External Affairs S. Jaishankar announced that Indian students who are stranded in Sumy will return India today. MEA in his tweet on Friday said, students from Sumy are returning to India and that their evacuation was challenging. Acknowledging PM Narendra Modi’s efforts and decision, under whose direction Operation Ganga became possible, MEA thanked everyone who assisted in the operation.

Thanking authorities of Ukraine and Russia for the help in the evcuation process. He also thanked Red Cross for the evacuation assistance.Words of gratitude were written for the neighbours of Ukraine for the “exceptional support” they provided to Indians. MEA thanked Romania, Hungary, poland, Slovakia and Moldova. These countries had opened their borders for Indians and gave them refuge till they could be flown back home.

NGOs, corporates, individual volunteers, airlines and IAF were instrumental in the evacuation assitance that they provided. He thanked his ministerial counterparts Jyotiraditya Scindia (Minister of Civil Aviation), Kiren Rijiju ( Minister of Law and Justice), Hardeep Singh Puri(Minister of Petroleum), General (Retd.) VK Singh (Minister of State) for their assistance directly on the ground at the borders of the neighbouring countries of Ukraine. These ministers of India had went to the neighbouring countries for solving on-ground problems and fasten the process. MEA finally thanked Indian Embassy in Ukraine and Ministry of External Affairs’ team for their efforts in testing times.(H.S.)
