Surana and Surana Judex 2.0 – National Human Rights Law Moot Court Competition, 2024 @ Kalinga University

focuses on quality education but also emphasizes on the holistic development of the students. Moving with the aim, the Surana and Surana Judex 2.0: National Human Rights Law Moot Court Competition, 2024 in collaboration with Surana and Surana International Attorneys, Chennai, India, concluded successfully on 17 th August, 2024 at Kalinga University, Raipur, with the event witnessing an exceptional display of legal intellect and advocacy skills. This signature event for aspiring legal
professionals brought together top talents from across the nation and showcased the university’s commitment to fostering legal excellence.

The esteemed Guests for the Inaugural Competition were Honorable Justice Umesh Chandra Dhyani, Rtd. Justice of Uttrakhand High Court and Chairman, Uttrakhand Public Service Tribunal. 20 law schools participated in this competition where the Tamil Nadu Ambedkar Law University, emerged as the champions, securing the top honors in this prestigious competition and KIIT School of Law, displaying remarkable legal prowess, were the runners-up. Special recognition was also given to Sayantika Roy from Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology, School of Law, Bhubaneswar who was awarded the Best Student Advocate for her outstanding performance throughout the
competition.
The competition, held annually by Kalinga University, has solidified its reputation as a premier platform for law students to hone their skills, engage in rigorous legaldebates, and demonstrate their advocacy prowess. This year’s edition, now a part of the institution’s history, was marked by exceptional performances and an unwavering commitment to the pursuit of justice.
Key Highlights of the 4th National Moot Court Competition:
Impressive Participation: The competition attracted an impressive number of participants, comprising law students from thirty prestigious institutions. This diverse pool of legal minds contributed to an atmosphere of intellectual rigor and healthy competition.
Thematic Excellence: The moot court problem presented challenging legal issues,
reflecting contemporary concerns and recent developments in the legal landscape.
Participants showcased their ability to dissect complex legal problems with precision
and creativity.
Esteemed Panel of Judges: Distinguished legal professionals and academicians served as judges, providing invaluable feedback and evaluating participants’ performances with expertise and impartiality. In a fiercely contested final, judged by Advocate Vedant Bhelonde, Practicing Advocate, Bilaspur High Court of Chhattisgarh; Advocate Lukesh Mishra, Senior Advocate, Bilaspur High Court of Chhattisgarh and Advocate Praglabh Sharma, Associate of Pransh Law Associates, Raipur
Chhattisgarh. Winners and Prizes: The competition concluded with a grand award ceremony, where
the winners were recognized for their outstanding performances. Winners were awarded an amount of Rs. 21000/- Runners-up received Rs.11000/- whereas Sayantika Roy from KIIT School of Law, who was awarded the Best Student Advocate received cash prize of Rs. 6000/- and best researcher received the cash prize of Rs. 4000/- .
The valedictory ceremony was graced with the auspicious presence of the Chief Guest, Honorable Justice T.P. Sharma, retired judge of the Chhattisgarh High Court. Dr. R. Shridhar, Vice-Chancellor of Kalinga University, also honored the event with his presence, underscoring the university’s commitment to promoting legal education and advocacy. Mr. Preetam Surana, Partner Surana and Surana International Attorneys an eminent personality in the legal field, was also in attendance, adding to the event’s prestige.
Prof. (Dr.) Azim Pathan, Dean, Faculty of Law, Kalinga University who played a pivotal role in organizing the competition, provided key highlights of the event. He emphasized the importance of such platforms in nurturing the next generation of legal professionals and fostering a deep understanding of human rights law among students.
In conclusion, the vote of thanks was graciously presented by Mrs. Saloni Tyagi Srivastava, HOD, Faculty of Law, Kalinga University.
