the first day of Monsoon session held in Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly
today, late former members of Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly, Legislative
Assembly of undivided Madhya Pradesh, Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha were paid a
humble tribute. At the onset of the proceedings in the House, Assembly Speaker
Dr. Charandas Mahant informed about the demise of former member of Chhattisgarh
Legislative Assembly Mr. Gulab Singh, former member of undivided Madhya Pradesh
Vidhan Sabha Mr. Somprakash Giri, Mr. Balaram Verma and Mr. Balram Singh Bais,
former Lok Sabha MP Mrs. Karuna Shukla and Mr. Khelan Ram Jangde, former Deputy
Speaker of Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly, Mr. Badridhar Dewan, former
Minister of State for Government of Chhattisgarh, Dr. Shakrajit Nayak, former
Rajya Sabha member Mr. Ramadhar Kashyap, and, paid them tribute by commemorating
their personalities and contributions. Martyrs of Kargil War were also paid
humble tribute in the House. Two minutes silence was observed in the house in
honor of the departed souls.
While paying homage to the late leaders in
the House, Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel spoke about their persona and
their contributions. He said that the demise of these leaders is an irreparable
loss to the state and the society. Mr. Baghel also paid humble tribute to the
martyrs of Kargil War on the ‘Kargil Vijay Diwas’ today. Honoring the memories
of Mr. Gulab Singh- the Ex-Member of Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly, Mr.
Baghel said that he started as a student leader and later got elected as member
of Chhattisgarh Vidhan Sabha in year 1998 and 2003. He always worked actively
in his constituency. He passed away at the age of 53 years. He had played a
significant role in formation of Chhattisgarh state, and he was also a member
of various committees in Legislative Assembly.
Paying tribute to Mr. Somprakash Giri, a former member of the undivided Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly, Chief Minister said that we know him as a militant leader and a dedicated social worker. Even when he was not an MLA, he actively served the society. We got an opportunity to learn a lot from him. Paying tribute to Shri Balaram Verma, former member of the undivided Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly, Chief Minister said that Mr. Balram Verma was a social worker. He was a gentle, simple and friendly politician. He was elected a member of the undivided Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly. Paying tribute to former Lok Sabha MP Smt. Karuna Shukla, she said that she was elected MLA from Balodabazar Assembly Constituency. Later she was elected as MP from Janjgir Lok Sabha constituency. She was born in the family of former Prime Minister Late Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee. She was a fluent speaker. She had mastery over the selection and pronunciation of words. Paying tribute to the former Deputy Speaker of Chhattisgarh Vidhan Sabha, Mr. Badridhar Dewan, Mr. Baghel said that he was the oldest member of Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly. In the year 1990, he was elected in the undivided Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly for the first time and after the formation of Chhattisgarh, he represented Beltara assembly constituency thrice. He was also elected as Deputy Speaker of Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly twice. Paying tribute to Dr. Shakrajit Nayak, former Minister of State, Government of Chhattisgarh, Chief Minister said that he was elected MLA of undivided Madhya Pradesh for the first time in 1990. He represented Raigarh region several times. He was an informed and vigilant public representative of his area. Paying tribute to Shri Ramadhar Kashyap, a former member of Rajya Sabha, Chief Minister said that he was elected as the member of Rajya Sabha in year 2002. He also contributed in the formation of Chhattisgarh state. Paying homage to Mr. Balram Singh Bais, former member of the undivided Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly, Chief Minister said that he was a simple, easy-going and down-to-earth politician. He was elected as MLA three times. He was also the Vice President of Apex Bank Bhopal. Paying homage to former Lok Sabha MP Mr. Khelanram Jangde, Mr. Baghel said that he was known for strongly voicing the issues of underprivileged and poor people. He was elected as MLA for the first time in year 1980. Later he was elected as Lok Sabha MP from Bilaspur. He was also a member of Chhattisgarh Public Service Commission. He was a simple, easy going and friendly leader. Expressing his condolences to the families of the departed politicians, Chief Minister prayed for the departed souls to rest in peace.
Leader of Opposition in the House Mr. Dharamlal Kaushik, MLA Mr. Brijmohan Agarwal, Mr. Ajay Chandrakar, Dr. Vinay Jaiswal, Mr. Dharamjeet Singh, Mr. Narayan Chandel, Mr. Shivratan Sharma, Mr. Mohan Markam, Mr. Punnulal Mohale, Mr. Narayan Chandel, Dr. Raman Singh , Mr. Keshav Chandra also paid tribute to the martyrs.
