New Delhi, (thestates.news): The Delhi Police have added Section 153A of the IPC, dealing with promoting enmity between religious communities, in the FIR registered against protesters at Jama Masjid on Friday as the officials have identified five accused from the CCTV footage and videos. The police have arrested Jama Masjid (Katra Gokul Shah) resident Mohammad Nadeem (43) and Turkman Gate (Gali Shankar) resident Faheem (37) involved in the protest. Efforts are on to identify the other three accused.
After Friday afternoon prayers at Jama Masjid, several people protested raising slogans against the suspended BJP leader Nupur Sharma and demanded her arrest. Demonstrations were held here for about 20 minutes, after which the police reached the spot and cleared the road and removed the protesters from there.Central District DCP Shweta Chauhan had spoken of legal action and registered an FIR under Section 188 of the IPC. She said that five accused in this case were identified on Saturday. The police teams arrested two of the accused. Apart from these, efforts are also being made to identify the other three accused. Section 153A of the IPC has also been added to this FIR for promoting enmity between two communities. The DCP informed that police are also collecting information about the people who made the posters and the person who printed them.(HS)
