Two Days International Conference on Future Aspects of Science and Technology (ICFAST) at Kalinga University

Raipur (thestates.news) |The Faculty of Science, Kalinga University Raipur Chhattisgarh hosted a two-day international conference on Future Aspects of Science and Technology – ICFAST 2024 at the KalingaUniversity Auditorium.Altogether 252 offline and 105 online participants participated and presented their research findingsin the conference.
The first-day session began with the lighting of the lamp before the revered idol of Goddess
Saraswati, the epitome of knowledge and wisdom by present dignitaries and guest. The event was
graced with the presence of Kalinga University’s Vice Chancellor Dr. R. Sridhar, Director General
Dr. Byju John alongwith Dr. Rahul Mishra, Dean-Academics Affairs and Dr. R. Jayakumar, Dean
Faculty of Science. Dr. C.S. Shukla, Professor-Plant Pathology, IGKV Raipur, served as the Chief
Guest of the event. The esteemed guests were welcomed by the welcome committee under the
supervision and guidance of Dr. Sushma Dubey, HoD-Life Science.
Dr. C. S. Shukla highlighted how science benefits human welfare. Dr. Shridhar emphasized the
importance of research in developing preventive medicines and improved agricultural products, and
encouraged participants to continue learning about new advancements. Dr. Byju John also
emphasized the evolution of research from the cause of sickness to disease prevention.
The Key note speaker address was given by Dr. Tarun kumar Thakur, Professor, Department of
Environmental Science, IGNTU, Amarkantak, U.P. He has given a wonderful and informative lecture
on Land use dynamics & C stock changes highlighting the global climate change. Another key note
speaker Dr. Loganathan Veeramuthu, Research Assistant professor from National Taipei
University of Technology, Taiwan has given a talk on Chemistry Behind perovskite Quantum Dots
highlighting quantum mechanics. Dr. Ritu Jain, Associate Professor, Pearl Academy has given a
talk on Exploring the perceived factors for fashion rental E-Tailing comparing young vs old
consumers.
In the post lunch session Dr. Manas Kanti Deb, Professor & Head, Department of Chemistry
Pt. Ravishankar University Raipur gave an informative talk and describing various analytical
techniques for monitoring air quality in India. A total of 120 oral presentations (online and offline) and
30 poster presentations were given by participants from different colleges and Universities across
India. The fast day event ended with vote of thanks was given by Dr. Shilpi Shrivastava, HoD,
Dept. of Chemistry, Kalinga University. More than 250 students, research scholars and faculty
members attended this conference and interacted with speaker’s opportunities for learning,
networking, and knowledge-sharing in Science & Technology.
On the 2 nd day, Prof. Keshav Kant Sahu, Professor Dept. of Biotechnology, PRSU Raipur and
Dr. Chinmaya Mahapatro, Asst. Professor Dept. of Biotechnology NIT Raipur delivered their
lecture. Dr. Sahu explained the novel use of microbes as threat reporters, eco cleaner and yield
booster. Dr. Mahapatro delivered a lecture on synthesis of Cereium oxide nanoparticles and their
therapeutic applications. In the post lunch session Dr. Arvind Kumar Sinha delivered a talk on
rough set theory and it’s application in science and technology. Around 60 participants presented
their research work in both online and offline mode.

In the valedictory session, the certificates were given to participants for their presentation. At last
vote of thanks was given by Dr. R. Jayakumar, Dean Faculty of Science, Kalinga University.
