Western Railway cancels many trains in view of Cyclone Biparjoy

Mumbai (Thestates.news)| Considering the alertness for Cyclone ‘Biparjoy’ over Gujarat, Western Railway has cancelled and partially cancelled the operation of few trains as a precautionary measure in the cyclone-prone areas over Western Railway. In addition to this, various safety and security precautions are also being taken by Western Railway for train passengers of these prone areas under the jurisdiction of WR. Refund will be admissible as per extant rules.

A release issued by Chief Public Relations of Western Railway said till date 69 trains have been cancelled, 33 trains have been short-terminated, while 27 trains short-originated as a precautionary measure in view of safety of passengers & train operations with respect to onset of Cyclone Biparjoy.Cyclone Biparjoy appears to be taking a very serious form. The Indian Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert saying that it may hit Jakhou (Gujarat) port between Mandvi in ​​Gujarat and Karachi in Pakistan.

It is 240 km from Porbandar in Gujarat, 200 km from Dwarka, 230 km from Jakhou port, 250 km from Nalia and 370 km from Karachi port in Pakistan.The cyclone has moved north-westward and will make landfall by June 15 afternoon with wind speed of 125 to 135 kmph.

Cyclone Biparjoy has warned of rain and strong winds in many places in Gujarat.A high-level meeting was also held under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to discuss preparedness to deal with Cyclone Biparjoy. The central and state government organizations briefed the Prime Minister about how the relief and rescue operations would be carried out in case of a cyclone.

The Prime Minister had directed the authorities to take all possible steps to shift the people living in sensitive areas to safe places. According to the India Meteorological Department, Cyclone Biparjoy will cross Saurashtra and Kutch and hit Pakistan’s Karachi city by tomorrow along with the coastal areas of Gujarat. During this, the wind speed can be up to 145 km per hour. Therefore, a heavy rain warning has been given in Kutch, Dwarka, Jamnagar, Porbandar, Rajkot, Morbi and Junagadh from fron today and tomorrow. (UNI)
