Raipur (thestates.news) Reinforcing its unwavering stance of ‘zero tolerance’ towards corruption, Government of Chhattisgarh, under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai, took swift and stringent action during the third phase of Sushasan Tihar. Following confirmation of bribery and extortion by three contractual employees associated with the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana in Bemetara district, the government initiated immediate disciplinary measures.
The incident came to light through a viral audio clip in which Neera Sahu, an Awas Mitra posted in Gram Panchayat Airamshahi, was clearly heard demanding a bribe of Rs 25,000 for releasing an instalment under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. During the investigation conducted by the Tehsildar, Neera Sahu admitted that the voice in the audio recording was indeed hers.
Further investigation into the same matter revealed that Narayan Sahu, posted as Rozgar Sahayak in Gram Panchayat Tenduwa, was found to have threatened beneficiaries and demanded Rs 10,000 from them. Moreover, his wife, Ishwari Sahu, also serving as Rojgar Sahayak in Gram Panchayat Airamshahi, faced serious allegations from local residents for coercing money from beneficiaries through intimidation.
Based on a written report submitted by the Chief Executive Officer of Janpad Panchayat Nawagarh and an FIR registered at Nandghat Police Station, all three individuals—Neera Sahu, Narayan Sahu, and Ishwari Sahu—have been dismissed from service with immediate effect. The order was issued with the approval of the Collector, Bemetara.
An FIR has been lodged against the accused at Nandghat Police Station under Sections 308(2) and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), and a formal investigation into the case is underway.
Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai described the action as a testament to the core objective of Sushasan Tihar. He reiterated that transparency, accountability, and integrity are paramount in the implementation of welfare schemes. “Corruption, at any level, will not be tolerated,” he affirmed.
He further asserted that the state government is committed to ensuring that no officer or employee misuses public authority, and anyone found guilty will face immediate and lawful punitive action. “This is not merely an administrative action against corruption; it is a resolute affirmation of our commitment to good governance,” the Chief Minister declared.
