3 rd National Pharmacovigilance Week celebrations @ Kalinga University

Raipur (thestates.news) | As part of the initiation taken by Pharmacovigilance Program of India (PvPI), Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission (IPC), Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Govt. of India, Kalinga University’s Pharmacy department in association with ADR Monitoring Committee,
AIIMS Raipur has celebrated 3 rd National Pharmacovigilance Week on 21 st Sept 2023 with the
theme “Boosting Public Confidence in Pharmacovigilance” by conducting Pharmacovigilance
and adverse drug reaction awareness event.

The event commenced with welcoming the Guests of the day Dr. Nitin R Gaikwad (Professor
and Coordinator, ADR Monitoring Centre, AIIMS), Dr. Yogendra N Keche (Additional
Professor, ADR Monitoring Centre, AIIMS), Dr. Pugazhenthan T. (Assistant Professor and
Deputy coordinator, ADR Monitoring Centre, AIIMS).

Dr. Nitin R Gaikwad, AIIMS addressed the event informing about the irrational drug
administration practices and the adverse effects caused by improper administration methods.
While Dr. Yogendra N Keche addressed the students about the dangers of self-medication and over-the-counter (OTC) medicines, Dr. Pugazhenthan T demonstrated how to report these adverse effects to Govt of India. Dr. Nitin R Gaikwad also endorsed the role of Pharm.D, A
programme/course offered by Kalinga University, in Pharmacovigilance which involves
monitoring and reporting adverse drug reactions. More than 100 students from D. Pharm, B.
Pharm, Pharm D and M. Pharm along with faculty members attended the session.
The event was conducted under the guidance of Dr. Sandip Prasad Tiwari (Principal) Faculty
of Pharmacy. The event was coordinated by Mr. Satish Siripini (Assistant Professor) and Ms.
Rajni Yadav (Assistant Professor). Mr. Sandeep Kumar Mishra, Mr. Sudeep Mandal, Mr.
Pranjul Shrivastava, Ms. Semonti Nandi, Ms. Jayshri Swarnakar, and Mr. Sharang Bali were on
the event’s organizing committee. Mr. Satish Siripini, Assistant Professor, Faculty of Pharmacy, Kalinga University, and session organiser, concluded the session with a vote of thanks.
