Chhattisgarh’s youth will no longer need to move to metropolitan cities for quality higher education: CM Vishnu Deo Sai

NMIMS to set up 40-acre campus in Nava Raipur, first batch expected in 2-3 years

Raipur,(thestates.news) | Chhattisgarh is set to witness a significant expansion of its higher education landscape, with the prestigious Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS) establishing it’s campus at Nava Raipur Atal Nagar. The lease agreement and land registration for the project was completed today in the presence of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai.

The institute will establish its campus on around 40 acres in Sector 18 of Nava Raipur. The land has been allotted to Shri Vile Parle Kelavani Mandal (SVKM), which operates NMIMS, on a 90-year lease.

Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai said the government is working to ensure that the youth of Chhattisgarh have access to quality higher education within the state instead of having to move to big cities. The NMIMS campus would provide students with opportunities in management, skill development and employment-oriented education.

The state cabinet had approved the proposal to allot land for the institute on January 21, 2026. With the completion of the lease and registration process, work towards establishing the campus can now move ahead.

The institute aims to commence its first academic batch within two to three years. The entire campus development is targeted for completion within seven years. Once fully developed, the institution will have the capacity to accommodate around 10,000 students.

The campus is also expected to expand opportunities for skill development, research, entrepreneurship and industry-academia collaboration. Students will have access to practical learning and courses designed around changing industry requirements.

The project is expected to draw students, faculty and researchers from different parts of the country to Nava Raipur. The state government sees the institute as a step towards developing the planned city as an education and knowledge hub.

Deputy Chief Minister Shri Vijay Sharma, Finance Minister Shri O.P. Choudhary, Principal Secretary Shri Subodh Singh, Housing and Environment Secretary Shri Ankit Anand and Nava Raipur Atal Nagar Development Authority Chief Executive Officer Shri Chandan Kumar were also present on the occasion.
