Mindset That Glorifies Violence and Naxalism Is Equally Harmful to Society: Chief Minister
Raipur, (thestates.news) | Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai, during an interview with a private television channel, said that those who support Naxalism and regard Naxalites such as Hidma, who was responsible for the killing of hundreds of innocent people, as role models are “intellectual Naxals”. He said that society must firmly reject any mindset that provides ideological support to violence or seeks to glorify Naxalism.
Chief Minister Shri Sai said it is extremely unfortunate that some people portray as heroes those responsible for the deaths of innocent civilians and security personnel. Naxalites such as Hidma, he said, subjected generations in Bastar to fear, deprivation and backwardness. Glorifying them or raising slogans in their support amounts to an insult to the suffering of affected families and the sacrifices of martyred security personnel.
He said democracy guarantees the right to express views and disagreement, but supporting violence or glorifying those responsible for killing innocent people cannot be justified. Naxalism, he added, is not a challenge confined merely to guns and violence; the mindset that justifies such violence and creates distrust in democratic institutions is equally concerning.
