BJP slams Chhattisgarh govt over alleged liquor scam

New Delhi (thestates.news)|The BJP on Thursday hit out at the Congress government in Chhattisgarh over the alleged looting of Rs 2,161 crore from the liquor trade and claimed that the money had been siphoned off by those who had the blessings of Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel. Addressing a press conference at Part headquarters here, BJP Spokesperson Ravi Shankar Prasad said that, “Illegal earning through liquor has become an important tool of opposition governments nowadays”.

“There was a massive loot of the state treasury by the people blessed by the Chief Minister. Such a huge loot is not possible without the direct blessings of the government,” he added. Ravi Shankar Prasad alleged that the mastermind of this “scam” was Anwar Dhebar, who is the brother of Congress leader and Raipur Mayor Ejaz Dhebar and Ejaz Dhebar is very close to Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel”.

The Enforcement Directorate (ED), which is investigating the alleged liquor scam in Chhattisgarh, has filed a prosecution complaint in the special PMLA court. The Enforcement Directorate on Tuesday claimed that the total loss to the State exchequer was to the tune of Rs 2,161 crore. ED in its chargesheet said that in the alleged liquor scam case purportedly involving bureaucrats and politicians in Chhattisgarh. (UNI)
