Raipur (thestates.news) | SAIL-Bhilai Steel Plant received the prestigious 24th Global Greentech Environment & Sustainability Award 2025 in the Environment Protection category. at the two-day Environment & Sustainability Summit and Award Ceremony on June 13, 2025, in New Delhi. Bhilai Steel Plant, a flagship unit of SAIL, was declared the national winner of this award for its outstanding efforts in improving its environment index and reducing CO₂ emissions, marking a significant achievement in the area of sustainable steel production.
Senior officials Shri Rajiv Pandey, CGM (Power Facilities) and Shri Sanjay Kumar, GM (Environment Management) received the prestigious Award 2025 on behalf of SAIL-Bhilai Steel Plant. Followed by this the award was handed-over to Shri Manish Raj Gupta, Director (Technical, Projects & Raw Materials) and Additional Charge of Director I/c (Bhilai Steel Plant). Shri. Gupta expressed sincere gratitude to the Greentech Foundation for recognising BSP’s efforts and reaffirmed the Plant’s continued commitment to sustainability. He congratulated the entire BSP Collective for their continuous efforts in integrating environmental excellence into industrial operations. “This recognition is a tribute to our consistent pursuit of greener and more responsible steelmaking,” he remarked.
The summit, held on June 13, 2025, featured panel discussions, technical sessions, and knowledge-sharing forums on a range of sustainability themes, including Gender Equality, Sustainable Water Management, Environmental Sustainability, and Sustainable Cities & Communities. Distinguished speakers and moderators at the summit included Shri Dharam Pal, IAS (Retd.), Former Chief Secretary – Chandigarh and Chief Adviser to Greentech Foundation; Dr. N. Manika from IORA Ecological Solutions Pvt. Ltd.; Shri Atul Kumar Verma, Head EHS, UPL Ltd.; Dr. Sabina Yasmin of IFMR-LEAD at Krea University; Shri Parijat Sinha from Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd.; Shri Anupam, Deputy Chief Sustainability Officer, Dalmia Cement; and sustainability experts Shri Pavan Bakshi and Colonel Pradeep Misra from Prime Meridian Consulting India Pvt. Ltd.
The Global Greentech Environment & Sustainability Awards are organised by the Greentech Foundation, a prominent Indian organisation dedicated to promoting excellence in areas such as environmental management, corporate social responsibility (CSR), and human resources within the corporate sector.
