Raipur (thestates.news) | Chhattisgarh has its own identity in the world as the ‘maternal home of Lord Ram’. During his exile period, Lord Shri Ram spent a significant amount of time here. On the initiative of Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel, Chhattisgarh Government is developing important locations on Ram Van Gaman Path as major tourist spots in an effort to ensure that Chhattisgarh will emerge as a global tourist destination.
It is believed that Mata Sita and Lakshmana spent 12 years in Chhattisgarh with Lord Shri Ram. As many as 75 places where Lord Rama has visited has been identified in Chhattisgarh and a target has been set to develop them according to global tourism standards. In the first phase, work is progress to develop 9 places from Korea to Sukma having a length of about 2260 km. From Korea district to Sukma, one will be able to see and hear stories related to the exile of Lord Shri Ram along with gathering information about places of pilgrimage and tourism. The 9 sites being developed in the first phase include Sitamarhi Harchoka (Korea), Ramgarh (Surguja), Shivrinarayan (Janjgir-Champa), Turturiya (Balodabazar), Chandkuri (Raipur), Rajim (Gariyaband), Sihawa Saptarishi Ashram (Dhamtari), Jagdalpur (Bastar) and Ramaram (Sukma). The work of development of tourism in these areas is going on as per the instructions of Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel at a cost of about Rs 133 crore 55 lakh. This will not only promote rural tourism in state but also boost global opportunities in the tourism sector. Along with increasing employment opportunities in tourism, the initiate will strengthen rural economy of state.
