If the Centre does not meet the aforesaid target, the state government cannot approve the remaining houses

Raipur (thestates.news)| Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel has written a letter to Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi requesting him to allot the target for the remaining houses of the waiting list under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana in the state. Moreover, Chief Minister has requested the Prime Minister to allot a housing target for 8 lakh 19 thousand 999 beneficiary families of Awas Plus in the state.

     Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel has written in the letter that at present, a total of 18,75,585 beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana are registered in the permanent waiting list (rural) of the Government of India’s Socio-Economic Caste Census-2011 (SECC-2011). A total of 11,76,146 beneficiaries have been approved for housing from the above list till the year 2016-2023. After approval, about 73.5 percent (8,63,567) houses have been successfully allocated under the scheme. Thus, 6,99,439 are remaining on the permanent waiting list to achieve the target. Also, the target of 7,81,999 houses allotted for the year 2021-22 was withdrawn by the Government of India. State Government, through the letter number 5026 dated 18/08/2022, had requested Government of India to reallocate these houses in installments. But till date no response or information in this regard has been received from the Government of India. In the year 2022-23, a target of only 79,000 houses was provided.
