The Delhi
government on Tuesday presented a Rs 69,000-crore budget for financial year
2021-22 and announced free COVID-19 (#Corona_virus ) vaccination to all in
its medical facilities in the next phase.
Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, who also holds the finance portfolio,
presented the seventh budget themed on patriotism in the Assembly, and
allocated Rs 1,293 crore for the expansion of healthcare services and an outlay
of Rs 50 crore under the Aam Aadmi Nishulk COVID Vaccine Yojana.
The Minister announced free COVID-19 vaccination to all in government hospitals
in the coming phase of the inoculation drive.
The AAP government aims to increase Delhi’s per capita income to the level of
Singapore by 2047, he said.
The Delhi government will start Deshbhakti curriculum in its schools this year
and also open first Sainik school in Delhi, Mr Sisodia said.
He allocated Rs 16,377 crore, one-fourth of the total budget, for the education
sector and Rs 9,934 crore for health sector.
He said virtual model school will be started in Delhi.
The annual financial statement allocated Rs 45 crore for 500 flag masts across
Delhi.
It said water supply will be ensured in all unauthorised colonies in the next
two financial years.
He also announced that special “Mahila Mohalla Clinics” will be
opened in Delhi.
To promote yoga, the AAP government has also decided to provide yoga
instructors in colonies for which an amount of Rs 25 crore has been allocated
in the budget, Mr Sisodia added.
The government also allocated Rs 521 crore for art, culture and tourism sector.
The Budget session commenced on Monday with Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal’s
address to the House at 1100 hrs, followed by the presentation of the Economy
Survey of Delhi (2020-21) by Mr Sisodia. (uni) (media
