On 23 rd August 2023, Kalinga University successfully organized an awareness and training session in collaboration with the Election Commission of Chhattisgarh to educate students on “How to use
Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) during elections” on the university campus. The event was graced by experienced election officials Shri Rahul Indulkar, Master trainer Shri Vinay Agrawal and Shri Gajju Lal Sahu (patwari) who shared their expertise on the functioning of EVMs and the
importance of effective voting. With the forthcoming elections on the horizon, the initiative was
especially beneficial for the students who will be casting their votes for the very first time.
Election Officials started the event with an insightful presentation, shedding light on the significance of participating in the democratic process and making the right choice. Shri Gajju Lal Sahu provided hands-on practical training on how to use the EVM machines with ease.
The opportunity for students in attendance to get practical experience was one of the event’s highlights. The Election Commission set up a fully operational EVM machine so that students may practice casting ballots. They were introduced to the EVM technology through this real exposure, which also gave them more confidence to actively participate in future elections.
Dr. Sandeep Gandhi, Registrar of Kalinga University, expressed gratitude to the Election Commission for their collaboration and stated, “Empowering our students with the knowledge and skills to engage in the democratic process is a key step towards creating responsible citizens”. We appreciate the Election Commission’s cooperation in making this event successful.
