Bhopal (thestates.news)|Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that our country became independent on August 15, 1947 and Bhopal became independent on June 1, 1949. Today we are celebrating Bhopal’s Independence Day as Pride Day. Many people had participated in the merger for the independence of Bhopal. This is the day to remember them. Bhopal is not just a city of Nawabs but a city built by Raja Bhoj. A statue of Raja Bhoj has been installed in the lake of Bhopal, which is the identity of Bhopal.
Chief Minister Shri Chouhan was addressing the Bhopal Gaurav Divas function at Motilal Nehru Stadium. Medical Education Minister Shri Vishwas Sarang, Member of Parliament Shri V.D. Sharma, MP Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur, MLA Shri Rameshwar Sharma, Smt. Krishna Gaur, Mayor Smt. Malti Rai, former Mayor Shri Alok Sharma and a large number of common people were present. Families of freedom fighters who participated in the Bhopal merger movement were felicitated in the programme.
