Faculty Development Program (FDP) on ‘Emotional Intelligence of College Teachers’ organized by Kalinga University at hotel Sayaji was successfully completed on Saturday. Large numbers of faculties from different colleges of city took part in the FDP and shared their experience. Resource person for the first session was Dr R Shridhar, Vice Chancellor of Kalinga University while Dr Abhishek Tripathi, Dean of Management and Commerce was the keynote speaker for the second session. Program started with Saraswati Vandana and lighting of traditional lamp. Ms Jasmine Joshi, Assistant Professor of Commerce and Management gave insight on Kalinga University. Ms Shinki Pandey gave introduction of dignitaries and welcomed them with potted plant.
Dr R Shridhar started the first session on Emotional Intelligence. He stressed that an emotionally intelligent teacher learns and applies emotional intelligence skills to improve teaching. It helps in stress management skills, decision making skills, develops leadership quality, teaches time management and develops personality. In detail he explained about primary and secondary emotions. He opined that negative emotion causes disease at a younger age. He emphasized that a perfect teacher must have combination of teaching and learning method, emotional intelligence and subject expertise. During interactive sessions he asked several questions that were answered by the participating teachers.
Second session was addressed by Dr Abhishek Tripathi, Certified Emotional Intelligence Practitioner by Complementary Therapists Accredited Association (CTAA) USA. He gave lecture on Emotional Intelligence with self awareness, empathy, social skills, self regulation and motivation.Certificates were distributed to the participant faculties and their feedback and experience related to FDP was recorded. Faculties were enthusiastic to be part of the session. Over one hundred faculties from leading universities and colleges were benefited by the program.
Mr Abhishek Sharma, Director Admissions, Mr J Vishal, Ms Garima Sonwani, Deputy Manager marketing, Faculties Ms Jasmine Joshi, Ms Shinki Pandey, Mr Sheikh Abdul Kadir, Mr Yunus Rizvi and team members from Kalinga university were present during the program at Hotel Sayaji.
