Kalinga University Organizes A National Webinar on “Online learning through SWAYAM portal”

Raipur (thestates.news)  Department of Economics under the umbrella of Faculty of Arts & Humanities organized a one-
day National Webinar on “Online learning through SWAYAM portal”. The webinar was organized with the motto of imparting knowledge to the students with regard to the importance of Study Webs of Active-Learning for Young Aspiring Minds (SWAYAM), National Programme on
Technology Enhanced Learning (NPTEL) and Massive Open Online Course (MOOC). The session was conducted online on the Google Meet platform on 23rd August 2022. The session was supervised by the Dean, Faculty of Arts & Humanities and the organizing secretary of the webinar,
Dr. Shilpi Bhattacharya. The Keynote speaker of the webinar was Prof. R. K. Shrivastava, Deputy Controller of Exam & Coordinator of SWAYAM-NPTEL Local Chapter, Institute for Excellence in Higher Education (IEHE), BHOPAL, Madhya Pradesh. The webinar began with the welcoming of all the dignitaries and the participants by Mr. Shekhar Choudhary, Assistant Professor, Department of Public Administration and the Co-Convener of the webinar. The keynote speaker of the session Prof. R. K. Shrivastava, delivered his lecture by giving an informative and thought-provoking knowledge about the online learning through the use of SWAYAM Portal.

Through PowerPoint presentation, he emphasized on the various segments of the SWAYAM Portal. He further discussed about the educational impacts of Online learning opportunities and their usage in having knowledge upgradation of students from class 9th to graduate and post
graduate levels. Professor Shrivastava added importance of the online learning opportunities and how they are helping in releasing the goals of education policy to provide affordable, accessible and equitable education. He emphasized on features on the SWAYAM Portal viz. video lecture,
reading material, self-assessment through quizzes and tests and online discussion forums to clear the doubts. Importance of skills upgradation and increasing the employability of students was discussed. He informed how recruiters are looking for people who have benefit of knowing foreign

or regional language SWAYAM and other online platforms are providing these opportunities. He emphasized on the quality academics available through various platforms. The session ended with the question answer round and the students participated very enthusiastically in it. Dr. Namrata
Shrivastava, Assistant Professor of Economics and the Convener of the webinar proposed the vote of thanks. The webinar received very positive feedback and the students also expressed their keen interest and wishes of attending similar informative webinars in the future.
