Kapil Sibal elected SCBA President

New Delhi (thestates.news)|Senior Advocate Kapil Sibal was on Thursday elected President of the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA).Sibal secured 1,066 votes and defeated his nearest rival Senior Advocate and former SCBA Vice President Pradeep Rai by a margin of 377 votes. Pradeep Rai got 689 votes.Sibal had earlier served as the president of SCBA in 1995–1996, 19971998 and 2001-02.

There were six candidates in the fray for the post of the president. Despite it being a very hot day and temperatures soaring,the voter turnout was very high. A total of 2350 out of 2850 voters cast their votes, registering 82.45% polling. Other candidates who contested for the top slot are Adhish Aggarwala, Priya Hingorani, Neeraj Srivastava, and Tripurari Ray.(UNI)
