New Delhi (thestates.news)| The Supreme Court on Monday said that it would pass orders on Friday to facilitate the proper functioning of Committee headed by Justice (Retd) Gita Mittal which was set up to monitor relief work, rehabilitation, compensation and healing of violence-hit Manipur.
While taking into record Justice (Retd) Mittal report, the Apex Court bench, headed by the Chief Justice of India (CJI) Dr Dhananjaya Yeshwant Chandrachud said that we have received three reports from the committee headed by Justice (retd) Gita Mittal in the Manipur violence matter.
During the course of the hearing, Justice Mittal panel, which was constituted on the orders of the Top Court, told the SC that the essential documents of many victims of Manipur violence need to be reissued as they have lost their Aadhaar cards, Ration cards, driving licenses etc.
The panel said that a nodal officer needs to be appointed for helping victims to get lost documents be restored. The victim compensation rules be made in confirmity with NALSA. More domain experts need to be appointed.Justice Mittal panel sought further directions from the SC, in these issues, to which, the Apex Court said, it would pass directions on August 25 Friday.

The Committee further highlighted that Manipur victim compensation scheme may be updated and proposal of the committee for the appointment of domain experts.After reviewing the reports, the bench also underlined that the committee had bifurcated the cases under several heads such as compensation, violence against women, mental health care, medical health care, relief camps, data reporting and monitoring etc.
The apex court had set up the three-member committee of former High Court judges — Justice Gita Mittal, former Chief Justice of Jammu and Kashmir High Court, Justice Shalini Phansalkar Joshi, former Judge of the Bombay High Court and Justice Asha Menon, former Judge of the Delhi High Court. A three-member committee was set up to look into humanitarian aspects of the issue including relief, remedial measures, rehabilitation measures, and restoration of homes and places of worship (UNI)
