Mukhyamantri Yuva Swarojgar Yojana: Santosh from Bijapur starts his own grocery business

Raipur (thestates.news) | Youth from remote areas are reaping the benefits of the Mukhyamantri Yuva Swarojgar Yojana, and they are providing financial support to their families by establishing their own means of livelihood. Santosh Telam, a resident of village Tumnar in Bijapur district who took advantage of the scheme, is quite satisfied with establishing his own business today. He said that since childhood, because of the absence of his father, there was a lot of difficulty in fulfilling the needs of the family. His mother used to support the family by engaging in farming.

Somehow, after 5–6 years, his elder brother started helping his mother by learning electrical repair work from YouTube. Santosh also accompanied his brother in doing electrical repair work at the district headquarters of Bijapur. Then some of his colleagues advised him to start his own business. Santosh contacted the District Trade and Industries Center Bijapur to start his own grocery business. They were informed about the provision of grants when applying for loans. Under the Mukhyamantri Yuva Swarojgar Yojana, a loan of Rs 2 lakh was provided to Santosh for setting up a grocery shop in the years 2022–23. After loan approval, a 7-day-long entrepreneurship training was also provided. Since the beneficiary was an entrepreneur belonging to the Scheduled Tribe category, the department provided a grant of Rs 50,000 at a rate of 25 percent on the sanctioned loan amount. Santosh is earning a steady income of about eight thousand rupees per month from the grocery business and is also able to pay the bank installments regularly.
