9,738 COVID-19 (#Corona_virus ) deaths in a single day on Wednesday taking the overall
death toll to 2.67 million while also recording 46,000 fresh infections taking
the number of cases to 12.06 million.
According to data released by the Centre for Science and Engineering (CSSE) of
John Hopkins University, the number of COVID cases across 192 countries and
other areas around the world has now reached 12,697,267, whereas 26,70,459
people have so far lost their lives to the virus.
The coronavirus pandemic is continuing unabated in the world’s only superpower,
and the worst affected country in the world the United States of America where
the total number of infections reached 95,490,08, while the death toll rose to
536, 914 on Wednesday.
Brazil which is the second worst affected country in the world, where the
number of infections have reached 1,163,535 and the number of casualties to
282,127.
India is at the third position with more than 1.4 million cases. However, the
country has also recorded 1,10,45,284 recoveries. The country recorded 10,974
new cases taking the overall number of cases to 2,344,06 on Wednesday. The
country also recorded 188 deaths during the last 24 hours, taking the overall
number of COVID deaths to 1,59,044 so far.
Russia is at the fourth position, with more than 4.3 million cases and 91, 395
deaths. Britain has so far recorded more than 4.3 million cases and 1,25,927
deaths. France has more than 4.1 million cases and 91,324 deaths. Italy has
more than 3.2 million cases and 103,001 deaths. Spain has 3.2 million
infections and 72, 565 deaths.
Turkey has recorded more than 2.9 million cases and 29, 623 deaths. Germany has
recorded more than 2.6 million cases and 73, 952 deaths. Colombia has more than
2.3 million cases and 61, 368 deaths so far.
Argentina has registered more than 2.2 million cases and 54,036 deaths. Mexico
has recorded more than 2.1 million cases and 1,95,119 deaths. Poland has more
than 1.9 million cases and 47,578 deaths. Iran has recorded more than 1.7
million cases and 61, 427 deaths. South Africa has so far recorded more than
1.5 million cases and 51, 560 deaths. Ukraine has so far recorded 1.5 million
