New
Delhi, (the states. news) Prime Minister Narendra
Modi here on Wednesday held a virtual meeting of all chief ministers over
rising Covid-19 cases in the country and asked them to take quick and decisive
steps to curb the transmission and prevent nationwide outbreak.
India recorded the highest daily spike of this year on Wednesday with 28,903
Covid-19 cases and 188 deaths. The maximum number of cases were reported in
Maharashtra.
Mr Modi said India has been appreciated around the world in its fight against coronavirus
and decisive steps like micro-containment and restrictions must be taken
immediately to prevent the “emerging second wave”.
“If we don’t act now, there will be a nationwide outbreak,” Mr Modi
warned.
The Prime Minister suggested micro-zoning of an area instead of complete
lockdown and appealed for increasing daily tests and contact tracing.
He said the positivity rate in Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh was very high and
must be brought down.
