Promotion of Rice export by Chhattisgarh government yields positive results

  • Summer paddy being sold in the mandis at a higher price than the support price
  • Farmers getting Rs 1800-1950 Rs. per quintal
  • Result of giving complete exemption on mandi fee and farmer welfare fee from 12th July 2022.

Raipur (thestates.news) As per the Chief Minister, Bhupesh Baghel’s intention to encourage the export of rice in the interest of the farmers of the state, and as a result of the decision to give complete exemption on the mandi fee and farmer fee,  farmers are getting an additional profit of Rs. 250-300 per quintal by selling their summer paddy. Due to the fee exemption, Farmers are selling summer paddy in the mandis at a price higher than the support price. At present, summer paddy is being sold in the mandis at the rate of Rs 1800-1950 per quintal, which is directly benefiting the farmers of the state. Last year, the paddy of Rabi season was sold in the mandis at a price of Rs 1600 to 1650.

It is worth mentioning that in order to encourage the export of rice,the state government has offered complete exemption in Mandi duty fee and farmer welfare fee on the export of processed rice from the paddy purchased through mandis with effect from July 12, 2022. As a result of which, Rabi farmers are recieving  better market price than the support price, about 1800 to 1950 Rs. is being received by the farmers presently. This year, during the period of 22 July to 15 August 2022, about 18 lakh 53 thousand quintals of paddy have been bought and sold by the farmers in the mandis of the state. The farmers have received an amount of about Rs 55 crore 90 lakh more than last year at a hike of Rs 250 to 300 per quintal, which has directly benefited 92 thousand 650 farmers of the state. Due to several farmer-friendly policies of Chhattisgarh government, the economic condition of the farmers has been strengthened in the last three and a half years. Farmers are happy to get higher price of Rabi paddy and are making efficient use of the additional profit received by them.
