Hyderabad, (thestates.news) : Veteran actor of South films and former union Minister U V Krishnam Raju passed away in the early hours of Sunday. His last rites will be held in Hyderabad on Monday afternoon. He has been called ‘Rebel Star’ in Telugu cinema. Raju joined the Bharatiya Janata Party in the nineties. He was the Minister of State for External Affairs in the Atal Bihari Vajpayee government. 83-year-old Raju breathed his last at 3:30 am on Sunday at AIG Hospital in Hyderabad. Earlier on Saturday night, his health had deteriorated. Thereafter, he was admitted to the hospital. Krishnam Raju was the uncle of actor Prabhas. Raju was last seen in the film Radhe Shyam.
Actors, directors and fans of South Film Industry are paying tribute to Krishnam Raju on social media. He was born in West Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh. Film director Maruthi wrote on social media tha the was very sad to know that veteran actor and Rebel Star Krishnam Raju was no more and shared his condolences to Prabhas Garu and his family. He added, may the soul of Lord Krishnam Raju rest in peace, that he will always be in everyone’s heart.
KTR, working president of Telangana Rashtra Samithi also paid tribute to Krishnam Raju and wrote that he was deeply saddened to learn about the passing away of Rebel Star of Telugu cinema Krishnam Raju Garu, may his soul rest in peace. Krishnam Raju is survived by wife and two daughters.(HS)
