Raipur (The States. news): – ‘Smaran Gosthi’ was organized by Shaheed Veernarayan Singh Chair in Kalinga University on the 164th death anniversary of Shaheed Veernarayan Singh. His remarkable contribution was remembered. After organizing the memorial meeting, a two-minute silence was observed in the memory of Martyr Veer Narayan Singh.
It may be noted that to highlight the glorious history, art and culture of Chhattisgarh, Shaheed Veernarayan Singh Chair has been established in Kalinga University. Through the Shaheed Veernarayan Singh Chair, students are encouraged to do new research and new discoveries by
awakening their creative interest on various aspects related to the history, art and culture of Chhattisgarh. Dr. Vijay Anand, Chief Proctor of Kalinga University, who was present as the key speaker in the remembrance seminar, said that in the glorious history of Chhattisgarh, tribal society has made not only the state of Chhattisgarh proud but also the country by giving sons like Shaheed Veernarayan Singh. has done, who gave up the throne and sacrificed his life in the interest of the country and society and did the important work of awakening the light among the countrymen and had prepared the foundation for independence.
Dr. A. Rajshekhar, Professor of Geography Department, said that Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh is a living symbol of self-respect and honor of Chhattisgarh. He is the first freedom fighter of Chhattisgarh to sacrifice himself in the first freedom struggle of 1857. In his life, he did not keep
the purpose of expanding the state or fulfilling his personal selfishness, but he fought against the British to fill the stomach of the poor and hungry people of his area. His martyrdom has been inscribed with golden letters in the history of Chhattisgarh.
Mr A.K. Kaul, Head of the Department of Sociology, who was present as a special speaker in the said seminar, said that Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh did an important job of awakening and organizing the general public against the British Government. He was a leader. He had intense
resentment against the British and unfathomable sympathy for the poor people.He renounced the princely life and adopted the path of struggle. Chhattisgarh Mahtari will always be proud of his immortal son.
Dr. Ajay Shukla, the convener of the said seminar and president of Shaheed Veernarayan Singh Chair, said that in 1856, when there was a severe famine in Chhattisgarh. At that time, the general public was forced to starve due to the oppressive policies of the British. Then he robbed
the grain filled in the warehouse and distributed it among the people. The British had put him in jail, but in 1857, when there was a revolution against the British in the whole country, the people of Chhattisgarh made him their leader. He escaped from the jail with his army. prepared and fought firmly with the British. Later, the British sentenced Veer Narayan Singh to death, terming it as treason, and on December 10, he was first hanged at the local JaistambhChowk and then blew his dead body in a cannon. The people of Chhattisgarh never forgot his sacrifice.
After the remembrance seminar, a two-minute silence was observed while paying homage to the martyr Veer Narayan Singh on his death anniversary. Ms. MeritaJagdalla conducted the said seminar. After the program, Dr. Anita Samal, Professor of Political Science, presented the vote of thanks. All the professors of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities and Ms. Swati Agrwal, Ms.
Priyanka Singh, Ms. Priyanka Gupta, Mr. Akshit Lamba, Mr. Harsh Khare were present in the said seminar.
